Background
The Local Authority were demanding a unrealistic and inappropriate contribution towards delivering its sustainable travel objectives locally, disproportionate to the proposed extension to the existing hotel facility.
RGP’s Approach
By way of a number of surveys of the existing use of the site and close examination of the Supplementary Planning Guidance setting out the contribution methodology, RGP demonstrated to the Local Highway Authority that a lesser contribution was appropriate. The Authority agreed and RGP’s client made a saving of in the order of £ 40 - 50,000.
